We had a massive hail storm yesterday. It damaged the roof and broke a basement window. When we went outside to see how the garden held up (not completely obliterated), I saw a little bird sitting stock still on the fence rail. It didn’t move when we came close to it, just looked at us and breathed. It was probably in shock. Alicia took it inside and put it in a little cardboard box with a towel for warmth and a crack for air. It sat there, breathing, for a long time.

This morning when the rain finally stopped she took the box outside and opened it and the little bird flew away.
